We were talking about this while in SLC last weekend. I don't think Alta will ever allow snowboarding unless it gets sold to a larger corporation. Its privately owned, and is billed a being "a skiers mountain" - that has been their culture and motto since founded. If they were inclined to maximize profits, they would obviously change the policy straight away. The dividing line was clear to me - I thought it was interesting that as we were taking the bus up to the base of Alta (we left on a bc excursion up Flagstaff Mtn., over to Cardiac Bowl and Ivory Flakes, across from the main Alta entrance) that all of the snowboarders got off at Snowbird. That is, except for the splitters that were heading to the same bit of bc riding that we were.
I don't really understand the whole skier vs. snowboarder thing, but this is an interesting approach to getting the policy changed.
I do like that one line though "sun, you just got poached." Cracks me up.
