WARNING
WARNING - Feb 24, 2008 7:51am
I've been wanting to make an image of this sign for a long time now. I finally took the time to stop at the top of Loveland Pass Sunday morning on my way to Keystone. The snow was coming down sideways, making this image just a bit more meaningful, I guess.

AllPro
AllPro - Feb 22, 2008 7:51am
I see this AllPro three-speed locked to the same pole on the corner of Colfax & Adams every day on my way to work. I always notice it because on sunny days the light hits the bike just right when I venture by around 7:50am bringing out its fantastic rusty-orange paint job.

Ft Collins Brewery Chololate Stout = GOOD!
Picked up a sixer of Chocolate Stout from Fort Collins Brewery on my way home from my ride. I'm a sucker for any Chocolate Stout and this one is a keeper! You don't hear much about these guys, but they make some damn fine beers.

Hoops?
Hoops? - Feb 16, 2008 3:35pm
Got out for an urban assault on the Groundskeeper today. I was aiming to find a new urban route to work, something a bit more gritty than bike trail the entire way. I found the route and headed home via the Sand Creek and South Platte trails. This shot was taken along the South Platte Trail. The hoop catches my eye every time I ride by it, but I just haven't taken the time to stop and make the image.

New Rubicon Jacket
Had my eyes on this bad-ass Patagonia snowboard jacket all season and finally snatched it up today, taking advantage of their Winterfest sale. Happily contributing to the numbers in my last post! I think this weekend calls for a new jacket maiden voyage.....

Snowsports Numbers
Products Purchased by Consumers at Snow Sports Specialty Stores (in dollars) (2006-2007 Season)
Apparel: $623,168,013
Equipment: $564,349,174
Accessories: $593,962,794
Total: $1,781,479,981
Products Purchased by Consumers through Internet Retailers (in dollars) (2006-07 Season)
Apparel: $190,534,247
Equipment: $64,692,646
Accessories: $85,575,313
Total: $340,802,206
I'm not too good at the math, but my calculater says thats a total of $2,122,282,187. Over two billion dollars...in the US alone....and thats just for the gear! I've always wondered what the number was when I'm taking notice of different goggle, helmet, ski, board, and outerwear brands. And from the looks of the trends, those numbers just keep climbing. Interesting though, the dollar figures are climbing, but the number of participants is actually dropping.
You can find more numbers on this page of the SIA site.
On another note, the SIA show will be in Denver starting in 2010! I'll be there, drooling over all that gear!
